LIMA -- John M. Smith, 69, passed away on July 2, 2022, at 2:00 am, at the CareCore at Lima. John was born July 14, 1952 in Lima, OH to John and Elwanda (Rodenberger) Smith who both preceded him in death.
John graduated from Lima Senior High School. He then enlisted into the United States Army and received the National Defense Service Medal and Parachute Badge. He worked at Warehouse Associates in his younger years and found work with other industrial companies later in life. A little known fact about John was he was quite talented at playing the harmonica. He always looked forward to football season and watching all the NFL games. John also enjoyed spending time with his family.
John is survived by his children, Steve (Kris) Hasel of Holt, MI, Michael "Mike" Smith of Lima, OH, Shawn (Angie) Smith of Mcomb, OH, and six grandchildren.
Burial of cremated remains will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 11:00am at Dayton National Cemetery.

I Remember Those "Hard" ( "but fun time" ) Days working with John At Rudolph Foods & Working On His & My Cars ( Which He Was Very Knowledgable Of ) Also Some Of Best Times Playing Cards At His House With Our Wives & The Most Special Times Was John Teaching Me To Play The Harmonica ( J.Giels-Whammer Jammer In Just 6 Seconds! Yes He Was A Great Friend & Will Be Sadly Missed. May God Be With Him & His Family
