GLANDORF – Joseph P. Uphaus, 78, of Glandorf, passed away at 12:52 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born July 7, 1944 in Lima to the late Joseph V. and Lauretta T. (Kreinbrink) Uphaus.
On November 4, 1967, he married Jane Knueven, who survives in Glandorf.
Other survivors include three children: Julia (Bryan) Mason, James Uphaus, both of Glandorf and Joshua (Rebecca) Uphaus of Ft. Jennings; six grandchildren: Nicole, Lauryn and Ethan Mason, Alison, Carson and Jackson Uphaus; a great-grandchild, Kellin Richey; and a sister, Diane (Dennis) Jamieson of Warren.
He is preceded in death by five siblings: Donald (Dorothy) Kohls, Norman (Jeanne) Kohls, Corwin Kohls, Jeanette Kohls and Evelyn (Dick) McClure.
Joe retired from DANA Corporation, Lima as a machinist. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, its Holy Name Society and Glandorf choir for 58 years, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, charter member of the Glandorf Lions Club, 28 years on the Ottawa-Glandorf School Board and 45 years friend of Bill W.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Matt Keller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday, 2 – 8 p.m., Monday and 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. A Knights of Columbus and Parish Rosary Service will begin 7:30 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
