Send FlowersLIMA -- Joy I. Hadding, 95, of Lima, passed away at 10:55 AM on February 18, 2026, at St. Rita's Medical Center.
She was born on May 8, 1930, in Auglaize County to Clyde and Leona Mae (Shawler) Boedecker, who both preceded her in death. On July 2, 1949, she married George W. Bill Hadding, who preceded her in death on May 13, 2020.
Joy was a homemaker and had helped with the family business, William Hadding Home Builders. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the DAR, and 1812. She was an amateur genealogist and loved bowling and playing bridge. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed shopping. She, along with her husband, had wintered in Florida for over 25 years.
Surviving are her son Robert William (Pamela) Hadding of Lima; her daughter Judy Lee (John, Sr.) Groom of Lima; her grandchildren John Robert Groom of Oxford, Andrew (Lisa) Groom of Bowling Green, Julie Jackson of Lima, James William (Kelly) Hadding of Lima and Christopher G. Hadding of Cincinnati; her great-grandchildren Michela (Alex) Papa, John W. Groom, Maddie Groom, Justin Groom, Kaylee (Kaden Hahn) Groom, Analie Jackson, Eben Jackson, Shelby (Ty Purdy) Hadding, Jacob Hadding, Chase Painter and Mason Painter; her great-great-grandson Elliot Hahn; her sister Ruth Hoff of Lima. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Pat Boedecker and Janice Hadding; her brother-in-law Jim Hadding of Seymour, IN.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Clyde Bud (Luella) Boedecker, Robert Boedecker and Kenneth (Cathy) Boedecker; her sisters Betty Murphy and Wanda Whitie (Bill) Breece; her brothers-in-law James Hoff and Louie Hadding.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, 1170 Shawnee Road, Lima, where the family will receive friends for 2 hours prior to the services, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Pastor Paul Engle will officiate the services.
Interment will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society.
