KALIDA - Juanita M. Selhorst, 93 of Kalida died at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born April 26, 1929 in Cloverdale to the late Joseph and Henrietta (Scharf) Wannemacher. On June 6, 1953 she married Urban Charles "Wimp" Selhorst at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale. He preceded her in death June 29, 2020.
Juanita is survived by five children: Dale (Barb) Selhorst of Findlay, Sandra (Norm) Dulle of Bluffton, Sherry (Denny) Schmenk of Ottawa, Sheila (Doug) Meyer of New Cleveland and Sonia (Mike) Siefker of Glandorf; 13 grandchildren: Kirk (Tamara) Meyer, Nathan Schmenk, Andrew (Nicole Birt) Dulle, Teresa (Logan) Kingen, Adam (Raegan Cupp) Schmenk, Lindsey (Wade) Neal, Dr. Megan Dulle, Jessica (Charlie Martin) Selhorst, Lauren Schmenk, Jaron Siefker, Erika (Derek) Maag, Jesse Siefker, and Kirsten Siefker; two great grandchildren: Oliver Kingen and Kristina Meyer, with two more on the way; a brother-in-law, Eugene Selhorst of Kalida; three sisters-in-law: Luella Siefker of Glandorf, Julie Selhorst and Ann Selhorst both of Kalida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters and their husbands: Rosemary (August) Plumpe, Hilda (Paul) Fortman and Evangeline (Oscar) Kerner; her brother and his wife, Herbert (Jeanette) Wannemacher; an infant brother, Joseph; three brothers-in-law: Harold Selhorst, Donald Selhorst and Norbert Siefker; and sister-in-law, Norma Jean Selhorst. Juanita was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida and its CLC and Altar Rosary Society. She was a foster parent to numerous infants and toddlers through the years and worked at Ohio Power before raising her family. Juanita loved growing African Violets and giving them away to friends and family. She was the Valedictorian of Ottoville High School class of 1947.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township.
