Kathy Meihls Obituary
LIMA -- Kathy Rae Meihls, 75 of Lima, passed away July 27, 2024, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Kathy was born May 30, 1949 in Lima, to John and Lois (Conaghan) Fisher, who preceded her in death.
Kathy is a 1967 graduate of Bath High School and she went on to further her education at the Lima Memorial Nursing School, graduating in 1969, and at Bluffton College, where she earned her Bachelor's of Nursing in 1982. She worked as an ICU nurse and in administrative nursing roles at Lima Memorial for 30 years. Within those 30 years, Kathy was the Director of Quality Assurance and also a Physician Recruiter. After her retirement from Lima Memorial Hospital, she continued in roles in Quality Assurance, ending her career in Case Management. Kathy was an avid and expert shopper.
She was a Lady Elk at Lodge 54 in Lima, she loved playing golf and she was active with the United Way. Kathy enjoyed spending time at her condo at the beach and entertaining; she loved a New Years Eve party. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy is survived by her son, Chris (Ellen) Meihls; daughter, Alison (James) Williams; grandchildren, Kyle Meihls, Riley Meihls, Jack Williams and Lauren Williams; long-time companion, Ken Coats; brother, Steve (Kathy) Fisher; nephew, Chad Fisher; niece, Lori Reynolds and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Craig Fisher.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel with Pastor Todd Cosart to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.

Chris and Ali, your Mother was a special person in our lives. I loved her as a sister. We had some great adventures together. I visited her in April and we laughed, cried, and did lots of remembering our families together. Even though I did not see her very often, Kathy was always in my memory laughing and planning our next adventure together. See you in Heaven, my dear friend.

So sorry for your loss and thinking of you especially, Alison. What a great lady Kathy was! The laugh was contagious. When Kathy brought me to Lima, (yes, it was her hard work, help and connections) I would call her on occasion in the early morning to ask her a question while she was still on her treadmill. She introduced me to Dixie Corner to help start the practice and was always the most positive person. I so appreciated her counsel and encouragement. She will be greatly missed.
