LIMA -- Kenneth "Kenny" Neal Coats, age 82, passed away on May 10, 2025, at his residence. Kenny was born on June 11, 1942, in Lima, OH, to Edgar F. and Dolores K. (Rosengarten) Coats who preceded him in death.
Kenny is survived by his son, Theodore "Ted" K. (Yvonne) Coats of Lima, OH, his daughter, Julie (Matt) Hagenbart of Park Ridge, IL, 3 grandchildren: Haley Coats, Seger Hagenbart and Baron Hagenbart, his step-mother, Connie Archer of Old Town, FL and former wife, Donna Burden of Lima, OH. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Kathy Rae Meihls, a sister, Susan (Sam) Demieri and an infant brother, Tim Coats.
Kenny was a 1960 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He started at Gerber Foods as a salesman and then joined the family business, Coats Motor Sales with his grandfather, father and uncle. He worked there for 35 years until he started working for AEP as a salesman in the Water Heater Program retiring in 2007. Kenny was a member of the Elks B.P.O.E. #54 and was an avid bowler, golfer and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He enjoyed his morning coffee with his friends and was a longtime car enthusiast. Most of all, he loved his grandkids and spending time with family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 12 noon until 4:00 pm at The Met, located at 306 N. Main St., Lima, OH 45801.
