WAPAKONETA -- Marian L. Phillips, 90, of Wapakoneta, died 1:15 p.m., Sun. June 11, 2023, at Elmwood Assisted Living of New Bremen. She was born March 19, 1933, in Moulton Twp., Auglaize Co., the daughter of the late Leroy and Alvina (Detjen) Katter. She graduated from Capital University in 1955 with a BS in Education. On Dec. 17, 1955, she married Howard Hirschfeld, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1992. She married Roger Phillips on March 20, 1999 and he survives.
Other survivors include, 2 sons, Greg and Linda Hirschfeld, Tuscaloosa, AL, Glen and Traci Hirschfeld, Toledo, OH; 5 grandchildren, Dustin and Sarah Hirschfeld, Kyle Hirschfeld, Adam and Devon Hirschfeld, Alden and Lauren Hirschfeld, Addison and Alexa Hirschfeld; 8 great grandchildren, Hayden, Vivian, Bastian, Carson, Witten, Hunter, Harrison & Shepard step-children, Melissa and Patrick Moriarty, Melanie and Keith Steuer, Matthew and Angie Phillips, Molly (dec) and Buster Arnold; 12 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Irene Lindner and Eileen LaGatta and a brother who died in infancy.
Marian was a life-long member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moulton & faithfully served and supported many activities through the years. She was also a life-long member and past President of the Wapakoneta Irving Club. She loved her family and enjoyed blessing them with many of her homemade meals and desserts….all that continue to be family favorites. When it came to entertainment, she was often found at her kids and grandkids sporting events, at a card table with friends or family or watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams and the Cincinnati Reds.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Mon. June 26, 2023, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moulton, OH, with Vicar Deb Monnin officiating. Burial is to follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys, OH. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m., Sun. June 25, 2023, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 1 hour prior to the service, Mon. June 26, at the church.
