LIMA -- Marlene Marie (Mueller) Papp, age 83, passed Tuesday March 19, 2024 , surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 7, 1940, the daughter of Joseph H. Mueller and Janet M. (Purdy) Mueller, daughter in law of Janos and Irene Nagy Papp who preceded her in death.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 years Miklos Papp, daughter Mindy (Steve) Roberts of Spencerville, son Joe (Missy) Papp of Lima, grandchildren Nicholas Papp of Springfield, OH, Ashley (Russell) Tate of Georgetown, KY, Andy (Alyssa) Roberts of Lima, OH and Cole Roberts of Spencerville OH. She is also survived by her (9) great grandchildren, Jace, Jayden, Hunter, Charley, Victor, Levi, Coen, Reese, Donna and great granddaughter Mila on the way. Three step great grandchildren Ty, Cory and Emily Spurlin, sister-in-law Cheryl Mueller of Lima, nieces Tracy and Anna, nephew John and her very special family from Hungary brother-in-law Andras (Kati) Papp, sister-in-law Agi Elek, sister-in-law Magda Horvath, sister-in-law Eboi Sandorne Nagy, and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Jack Mueller and son Jeffery Janos (Pappy) Papp.
Marlene graduated from Lima Central High School and Otterbein University. She worked at Lima Memorial Hospital in admitting and was co-owner of Mar-Mik Ceramics of Lima, Ohio for 37 years. She loved working her business alongside her husband and enjoyed helping her customers. Marlene was a self-taught ceramic artist. She painted many cherished pieces for her loved ones and was even featured in a 1994 article in Ceramics Magazine for her work on a Christmas cookie jar which will be treasured forever by family. She will be remembered for the eyes she painted on her Smileys, her colorful Santas and Christmas trees. She loved to travel and visited many places in her lifetime.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Eastside Chapel. Burial will follow in Ward Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer Foundation, Diabetes Foundation and Spencerville Athletic Boosters.
