Mary Coby

CRIDERSVILLE -- Mary Ann Coby, age 83 of Cridersville, passed at 8:55 a.m., Sunday, August 24, 2025 at St. Rita's Mercy Health. She was born January 23, 1942 in Spencerville, Ohio to the late George E. and Louetta B. Heil.

On July 27, 1962 she married Donald Lee Coby, who passed March 23, 2016.

Mary Ann worked in the cafeteria at Shawnee High School for 30 years, from 1973 until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of Hume United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed helping with church bake sales and making noodles, always lending a hand where it was needed. Mary Ann loved sharing her gifts with others-whether it was through her delicious baking, crafting, making sweatshirts, or crocheting.

She is survived by 2 sons – Dennis L. Coby of Cridersville; Richard D. Coby of Hume; 1 daughter – Debra (Kenny) Treantafilos of California; 7 grandchildren – Ashley Mavis; Amanda (Mike Baker) Coby; Sean (Kelsie) Coby; Tyler Coby; Kaeley (Shawn Ley) Coby; Doug (Kylie) Coby; and Zach Coby; many great grandchildren; a brother – Carl D. Heil; and a sister-in-law – Penny Heil of Buckland.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers – David A. Heil, who died in 1992 and William P. 'Bill' Heil who died in 2006.

Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Charlotte Heffner will officiate. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
