MARY GUIDERA
LIMA — Mary C. Guidera, 88, of Lima, passed away at 12:02 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice Unit.
She was born on February 7, 1928 in Lima, OH to William J. and Leona Catherine (Hotz) Ring, who both preceded her in death. On October 18, 1952, she married George J. Guidera, who preceded her in death on January 27, 2010.
Mary was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She graduated from St Rita's Hospital School of Nursing and had worked as a registered nurse at St. Rita's Medical Center, the TB Hospital, Lima Convalescent Home, and Roselawn Manor. She was a very dedicated and compassionate nurse and enjoyed a career spanning more than 50 years.
Surviving are her sons Joseph Guidera of Lima, Stan Guidera of Perrysburg, William (Denise) Guidera of Abilene, TX, Brian Guidera of Virginia Beach, VA and Paul (Julie) Guidera of Lima; her daughter Rita (Thomas) Burger of Lima; her grandchildren Tony Guidera, Angela Guidera, Carmen (Brian) Poff, Nick (Lindsey) Guidera, Nich (Missy) Guidera, Sevin Guidera, Heather (Rey) Ortiz, Jr., Michael Guidera, Catherine Burger and Claire Burger; ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Lucia Guidera; her brothers Charles and Leonard Ring; her sister Frances Schnipke.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church, with Father Kent Kaufman officiating.
Entombment will be at Gethsemani Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
