LIMA -- Melissa Renee Hatcher, 40, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at approximately 1 a.m. at 112 E. Market St. in the Kirwan Hotel. Melissa was born in Lima, OH on March 11, 1982, to Bernice Woods and Thomas Lee Protsman.
Melissa was a kind and gentle soul. She was one of a kind and truly unique in many ways. She loved to laugh and clown around. Those who knew Melissa would describe her as adventurous, funny, loving, caring and loyal. She was never too busy to pick up the phone. If you needed her, she would come running. She especially loved spending time with her son and loved to visit friends and family. She loved to travel, shopping and playing softball.
Melissa lives on through her son Steven Hillard Hatcher, her aunt Fay Starkey, her uncles James Samons, David Samons, Donnie Samons, and Jerry Samons.
She is proceeded in death by her mother Bernice Woods, and her father Thomas Lee Protsman.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
