LIMA -- ?Michael Allen Eley, age 70, of Lima, Ohio, passed away on December 18, 2025, in the loving presence of his wife. He was born on June 30, 1955, in Lima, Ohio.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Eugene and Janet (Lubinsky) Eley; his younger brother, Marion Eley; and his daughter-in-law, Katie Mills.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Eley; his siblings Susan (David) Nell of Columbus, Ohio; Pam Eley of Waynesfield, Ohio; Ronnie Eley of Lima, Ohio; and Gary (Christina) Eley of Lima, Ohio. He is also survived by his children Eric (Melissa) Eley of Temperance, Michigan, and Chad (Valerie) Eley of Lima, Ohio; his stepson Bobby Heidenescher of Lima, Ohio; and he and Kathy's beloved dog, Sofie.
Michael was a proud grandfather to Kory (Stacey) Carter, Amber Dodds, Katarina (John) Bailey, Katelyn Mills, Skyler Heidenescher, Ella Eley, Avery Eley, Camden Eley, and Caleb Eley. He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild whose arrival was eagerly anticipated and deeply cherished.
Michael retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he served for 28 years as an assistant manager. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career.
A die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes supporter, Michael's love for the Buckeyes was well known-especially to his great-grandchildren, who learned exactly who Brutus was from the mural Michael proudly chose for his living room wall.
Michael treasured time spent poolside during the summer months with his wife, their dog Sofie, and the many family members and friends who gathered there. He was known for hosting unforgettable holiday celebrations, including a legendary Halloween bash, as well as lively Ohio State game-day parties. A fantastic cook, Michael especially loved grilling for those he loved, creating memories around food, laughter, and togetherness.
Michael will be remembered for his dedication to family, his generous spirit, and the joy he brought to every gathering. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through generations.
Visitation for Michael will be Monday, December 22, 2025, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., at the Eastside Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services where his service will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Our deepest sympathy to the Eley family. I have great memories of Mike, Susie, Pam, Ronnie, and Gary, coming to their Grandma & Grandpas house,our next door neighbor,when we were kids. We had a lot of fun. We now have great neighbors next door, Gary & Christina. we will keep everyone in our prayers.
