Donnie Eley Obituary
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock pm, Monday, December 29th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Gene Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in the Eley Cemetery in Chapmansboro with Elliott Eley, Evan Eley, Dale Garrett, Tim Elliott, David Elliott, Nathan Wallace, Ethan Peterson, and Jeff Head serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Boatwright, Tommy Winters, Robert Head, Ricky Knox, Warren Wallace, and William Gailie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 28th from 3:00-7:00PM, and again on Monday beginning at 12:00PM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mr. Donnie was born on February 20, 1946, in Springfield Tennessee, to the late Conway and Catherine Winters Eley. He was retired from the telephone company after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed raising cows and gardening on his farm in Chapmansboro. He was also an avid lover of antique automobiles and often worked on his '57 Chevy Bel Air. Donnie was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Stroudsville Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Eley, and a sister, Helen Eley Head.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Elliott Eley of 60 years of marriage…a daughter, Shannon Eley (Dale) Garrett, son, Elliott (Amanda) Eley, son, Evan Eley and brother, Connie Eley. He is also survived by four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Donnie's memory to Stroudsville Church of Christ Building Fund, 1531 Stroudsville Road, Adams, Tennessee 37010 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105

Donnie you will be remembered as a gentle soul who was always the same whenever I saw you. You were Godly, kind & a blessing to know. Virginia Ann I am so sad that you have lost your husband and best friend. Y'all were a beautiful faithful couple. We know that he is with our Father and he is at peace. May you be comforted in days to come knowing you will see him again. He will be right behind God, waiting in line to see you again. Prayers for you & yours.

So very sorry in your loss of Donnie. He was always friendly and soft spoken and smiled a lot. It was always a pleasure to see him and talk with him. We will miss him and know the family will miss him so much. We are thinking and praying for you in this difficult time.
May God give you comfort in this time of loss with the knowledge that he is a Christian. It is our hope that your present sadness of his loss will be replaced (with time) to pleasant memories.
