Michael Jenkins Obituary
ELIDA — Rev. Dr. Michael A. Jenkins age 76, of Elida passed away 2:10 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at his residence.
He was born November 28, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Von D. and Mary E. (Tabor) Jenkins.
He married Theresa L. Placie on June 30, 1962 and she survives in Cridersville.
Dr. Jenkins had graduated from Elida High School, Ohio Northern University and United Theological Seminary.
He had been an Allen County Sheriff Deputy Juvenile Detective, Chief of Police for American Township in the 80's, served on the Elida School Board for 8 years and the board of directors for Friends of Russian Orphans.
He had also been worthy patron for Delphos Eastern Star. Rev. Mike had served several churches over the years: Zion/Morris Chapel as his student charge, Immanuel UMC Elida for 16 years, Patascala UMC, Community UMC in Circleville, First UMC of Sylvania, Zion UMC of Toledo and finished up at Cygnet UMC.
Additional survivors include sons: Toby (Linda) Jenkins of Elida, Caeleb Jenkins of Cridersville, 8 grandchildren: Christian (Jason), Elise, Nathan, Jency, Kyle (Michael), Cody (Heather), Cole (Mika) and Katalina, 6 great grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Franny) Jenkins of Lady Lake, FL and Brian (Julie) Jenkins of Lima and a sister Susan (Jim) Peed of Bumpass, Virginia; and his mother-in-law - Vanceine Placie of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Liza Anne Sackinger and a sister Nancy Jenkins.
The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Immanuel UMC, Elida, Rev. Dr. Tom Brown will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Putnam County Hospice or to the American Heart Association.

I just saw this & offer condolences.
Dr. Mike was a phenomenal minister and human being! He was very special to all of us.
The last wedding he performed was ours. We were honored because he was such an amazing person & also not felling well, but was there for us.
That's the last time we saw Dr. Mike and we were very honored. Dr. Mike was everything God wanted him to be and then some.
He was a great man who was loved by all who knew him. Memories of him will never be forgotten! He is still LOVED & always will be.

I am so sorry to see about Mike. My thoughts and prayers are going out to you and all your families. Mike was a great man. I remember the family as we went to church at High St. U. M. He was our choir director for awhile. He really loved doing God´s work. God be with you all now and forever. May Mike RIP. GOD BLESS YOU.

Mike was our pastor in Elida for many years and Marsha was his secretary. What a great Christian man he was and he was blessed with a beautiful voice. We loved to hear him sing as well as preach. He was a dear friend. So very sorry for your loss.
