Miriam Adams Obituary

LIMA -- Miriam Barrington Adams, 91 of Lima, passed away March 25, 2025, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Miriam was born September 19, 1933 in Lima to Robert and Alice (Stevenson) Barrington, who preceded her in death.

On January 15, 1960 she married Donald Adams, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2000.

Miriam was a 1951 graduate of Lafayette Jackson High School. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Townsend Realty and later as the Office Manager at American House until her retirement. Miriam was an active member of South Side Christian Church where she shared her talents in many ways, including knitting sweaters for babies in the church, collecting Chief grocery slips, having the name plates for the pews made and counting the offering. She was incredibly active in the community, serving on the boards for the YWCA, New Lima, Met Housing and the Metropolitan House. Miriam was a Life Member of the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she served over 2,000 hours.

She was an Ohio State Football ticket holder since 1963 and she was a member of the Buckeye Boosters and the President's Club. Miriam loved knitting and cross stitching and she loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Miriam is survived by her brother, Fred (Karen) Barrington; nieces and nephews, Lucinda (Mark) Daley, Tracy (Keith) Hollar, John (Nicole) Barrington, Brian (Traci) Barrington, Jim (Ginger) Walther, Patti (Darryl) Nichols and Karen (Tony) Boitnott and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025 at South Side Christian Church with Pastor Todd Cosart to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church to be used for the Fellowship Hall.

Arrangements are entrusted to Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services.

Miriam and I were the same age, both born in 1933, but she always called me "Mr. Smith"... respecting the fact that I was her pastor. She was always a "proper" lady.

I have fond memories of Miriam from my ministry at South Side...as one of our early Trustees she "saw things" that a long line of male Trustees
had over-looked (and we appreciated her care for the parsonage!). Pete Smith

Miriam and Don were very close friends with my parents, "Red" and Marge Belton, who preceded her in passing. I have such fond memories of her and my mom knitting together in the stands at many, many high school and college basketball and football games. I know my mom will be so happy to see her in heaven. May God bless her beloved soul.
