WAPAKONETA -- Molly Ann (Dodds) Shroyer,86, of Wapakoneta, was welcomed to her heavenly home, at 11:05 AM on May 8, 2023, in the care of her family.
Molly was born on April 5, 1937, in Hardin County to John O. and Myrtle M. (Tracy) Dodds, who preceded her in death. On October 26, 1958, she married Richard J. (Dick) Shroyer, in Logan County, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2004.
Molly was a member of the Wapakoneta Church of the Nazarene where she served in various positions and loved participating in Sunday School Lessons. She was a graduate of Stokes Local High School, Lakeview. She was a member of the Buckeye Farm Antiques. As a member of the Auglaize County Genealogy Society, she had a passion for researching genealogy and tracing family lines. Molly loved to read. She reread the Bible and the book Pride and Prejudice, always finding something new each time. Molly was a natural problem solver and great at working with her hands. She used her talents to refinish and repurpose furniture. Molly loved to quilt and knit, creating pieces of work which she gave to loved ones. She was a wonderful listener with a joyous laugh and a smile that brightened all who were around her. Molly had a gentle spirit with a compassionate heart that loved generously.
Survivors include her 4 children: Dennis (Susan) Shroyer, Wapakoneta, OH, Andrew (Cindy) Shroyer, New Knoxville, OH, Jann (Tim) Klopfenstein, Wapakoneta, OH, and Garron (Lisa) Shroyer, Wapakoneta, OH; Molly cherished her 10 grandchildren: Adam, Ashley, and Abby Shroyer, Nathaniel (Jenna) Shroyer, Katie Shroyer, Paige and Lauren Klopfenstein, Garrett, Cassandra, and Connor Shroyer, and was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are siblings, Denzil (Kay) Dodds, League City, TX, W. Michael (Carlotte) Dodds, Sidney, OH, David (Deanna) Dodds, Jackson Center, OH, Aaron (Deanece) Dodds, Lakeview OH. Sisters in law include Patricia Joan Dodds, St. Marys, OH, Joan Dodds, Wapakoneta, OH, Sharon Dodds, Bellefontaine, OH, Peggy Dodds, Cincinnati, Oh, Lila Shroyer, Wapakoneta, OH, Patty Shroyer, Sidney, OH, Sharon Young, Rockford, OH, one brother-in-law, Victor Shroyer, Columbus, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren Jessica and Jenna Shroyer, and a great grandchild, Josiah Shroyer. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: John, Myron, Patrick, and Phillip Dodds, brothers in law, Howard (Tom), Larry Joe, Donald, Robert, and Terry Shroyer, sisters in law, Carolyn (Sue) Day, and Linda Young.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 10:30 AM at Eley Funeral Home and Crematory, 1102 Lincoln Hwy, Wapakoneta, OH 45895. Molly's brother, Rev. Denzil Dodds will officiate the service. The burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, OH.
The family will receive friends Monday, May15, from 3PM to 7 PM and Tuesday May 16, from 9:30 until the time of the funeral service at Eley Funeral Home and Crematory, Wapakoneta.
