LANDECK - Olga D. Rode, age 72, passed away on November 14, 2025, at 8:37 am, at her residence, surrounded by her family. Olga was born on August 24, 1953, in Windsor, Canada, to the late John and Molly (Pityn) Shymkiv. On September 24, 1976, she married Larry J. Rode, who survives in Landeck.
In addition to her husband, Olga is survived by her children: Natalie (Jason) Grothause of Ludington, MI, Kristin (Melvin) Spicer of Newark, OH, and Nicholas (Nichole Spore) Rode of Dover, OH; her grandchildren: Aaron, Brynn, Olivia, Rory, Cody, and Austin.
Olga was a 1971 graduate of Bexley High School. She then attended The Ohio State University and earned an associate's degree in information technology from Rhodes State College. Olga was very connected to her community, from volunteering at the Interfaith Thrift Store, to being a board member of the Delphos Public Library, to her membership in the area sewing guild and fiber group. She will also be remembered as being a talented artist in crafting, quilting, and sewing.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date to be determined by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
