I first met Pat in September 1969, when we were Morrill Tower dorm-mates at Oregon State. We continued to be friends throughout college, when I frequently would party at the Blue Zoo apartment he shared with Jack DiGuiseppi and Eddy Glass. I recall going on a road trip to Cincinatti with him to see Taj Mahal and the Kinks. We got a kick out of being sprayed with beer, as Ray Davies swung a can of beer around as he sang "that demon alcohol". After graduating, I recall getting together with him for a multiday NYE celebration at mutual friend Bob Momberger's in Woodstock Vermont, where Bob and I started calling him "Cowboy Pat" because of his duds.
We renewed our friendship when Pat moved to Seattle. I had already been living there a year, but Pat, with a keen sense of the times, introduced me to the benefits of running (I remember him convincing me to make a second loop around Green Lake, which at the time was a personal distance record for me). He also introduced me to Dumi and his Marimba band and to the pleasures of unpartnered free expression dancing to third world music. He also rescued me from the doldrums of foolishly leaving my longterm girlfriend when I moved to Seattle, by showing me that there were other fish in the sea (Pat was always smooth with the ladies).
After Pat left Seattle, we more or less fell out of touch for thirty years, except for the occasional trading of letters and emails. I learned he had settled in Thailand and was still writing poetry. This was fortuitous because I had his contact information, and was able to get together with him when I traveled to Thailand in 2019. It was wonderful sitting back and appreciating all the water that had gone under the bridge.
May Pat's journey continue in our memories.

We have such fond memories of Patrick who had been such a wonderful person with class and style. We shall remember him with all the fun times we had in Singapore and Bali. He had always been kind to us and will miss him dearly.
Our warmest condolences to his loved ones and family.
