LIMA -- Phyllis West, 86, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mercy Health St. Rita's.
Phyllis was born on February 17, 1938, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Claude Douglas and Phyllis (Black) Godsey. On May 18, 1963, she married Larry West, who preceded her in death on October 5, 2007.
Phyllis was a graduate of Lima Central High School. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader, and a daycare teacher. She enjoyed knitting, drawing, crafting, and jigsaw puzzles. Phyllis dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid OSU football and Lima Senior fan.
She is survived by her children: Thomas Gregory Godsey, Dionne (Keithie) Lasenby, and Michael West; special daughter, Shanda Lyles; grandchildren: Shemille Godsey, Thomas Godsey Jr., Michael West, Jordan West, Maxwell Combs, and Jayden West; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Owens and Robert Godsey.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Kay Clark, and seven siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
