LIMA — Ray V. Banks, 81, passed away March 12, 2021. He was born on August 1, 1939 to that late Raymond and Lucy (March) Banks in Lima. He married Gladys (McDonald) Banks July 24th 1974 and they were married until she passed away on May 5, 2011.
Ray is survived by his children: Carmen Banks, Johnny (Lisa) Banks, Johnnie Dell Florence; Sabrina (Joe) Florence; JoAnn Durr of Lima; Coralean (Lester) Pittman of Columbus; Paul Durr; Roland (Ruth) Durr of Lima; and Thomas Durr of Furth, Germany; 36 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Bruce Banks and Cheryl Crisp.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Lucy E Banks, wife Gladys; son Cornelius Durr of Texas; three great great grandchildren; brothers: Roy and Robert Banks; sisters; Rita (Rodney) White and Gloria (Robert) Jackson.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews many other relatives and friends.
Ray worked for Ford until he retired. He loved to fish and work on his cars, especially his Monte Carlo. His children called him MacGyver because he could use the parts he had and rig up anything. He will be dearly missed.
Memorial Contributions in Ray's honor may be gifted to the American Cancer Society. Visitation for Ray will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 am at Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home 506 N. Cable Road, Lima, Ohio 45805. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those attending the services will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
