RAYMOND HOSACK
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Raymond DeWitt Hosack Jr., 89, died Jan. 20, 2016, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, to Raymond Dewitt Sr. and Edith Young Hosack, who preceded him in death. On June 14, 1958, in Grove City, Pennsylvania, he married Loretta Jean Broders Hosack, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Hosack graduated from Grove City High School in Grove City, Pennsylvania, in 1943, and Grove City College in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 17. He had the pleasure of visiting the South Sea Islands of Iwo Jima, Guam, Turk, and the Philippines. He also had the distinct privilege of instructing the recent graduates of the U.S. Naval Academy on amphibious landing procedures during the Korean War. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Signet Lodge 264 in Carroll, Iowa, a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks life member, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a lifelong sales engineer in electrical engineering in support of electrical motors and switch gears for Westinghouse in Massachusetts, Dayton Electric in Minnesota and REMS in Ohio. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also carved duck decoys and tied fly fishing lures. His places of residence included Grove City, Pennsylvania; Springfield, Massachusetts; Lima; Northfield, Minnesota; Demison, Iowa; Carroll, Iowa; and Colorado Springs, Colo.
Survivors also include a brother, John Will Hosack; two children, the Rev. Chrisa Lynn Hosack (the Rev. Kenneth Max) Ferguson, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Jeffery Earl (Hope Gill Beals) Hosack; and six grandchildren, Meredith R. Ferguson, of Urbandale, Iowa, Naomi L. Ferguson, of Carroll, Iowa, Auna L. Ferguson, of Glendale, California, Philip R. Hosack, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James Aaron Gill, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Emily Elizabeth Gill, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
