LIMA — Richard Lee Lawrence, age 74, passed away Jan. 8, 2021, at 9:05 a.m. at his residence.
He was born May 30, 1946 in Kenton, to Darwin and Vera (Hutson) Lawrence who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his siblings: Joyce (Billy) Perrine and Randy (Bonnie) Lawrence both of Lima, and Darwin "Dwayne" (Debbie) Lawrence of Defiance. He also leaves behind the following nieces and nephews: Billy Perrine, Michael (Minah) Perrine, Rick (Paula) Lawrence, Jennifer Lawrence, Tabitha Lawrence, Donnie (Megan) Lawrence and Maria Vickery, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Griffith.
Dick was a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was then stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War serving with the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he became a semi driver. The last several years he was in charge of maintenance for V.F.W. Post 1275 and was the front desk clerk at the Argonne. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1275 and the American Legion Post 96.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with burial to follow in Salem Westminster Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1275. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
