Douglas Maselle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Memorial Park Cemetery & Crematory - Madison on Mar. 27, 2026.
Douglas Walsh Maselle, 68, of Madison, passed away on February 13, 2026, at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood. A man of unmatched intelligence and a relentless positive thinker, Doug was a builder at heart who spent his career and his life shaping a better future for everyone around him.

Born on August 7, 1957, in Lima, Ohio, to Robert and Janice Maselle, Doug moved through life with a visionary spirit. In 1983, he founded Maselle & Associates alongside his mother and sister, creating a company that would become a pillar of the real estate community in Mississippi.

To the hundreds of agents he mentored, Doug was more than a boss; he was a builder of people. He had an innate ability to lift others up, giving them the confidence to grow and be successful. He worked with a quiet integrity that inspired fierce loyalty, and he was famously known for his always having the right answer. To those around him, Doug was the calm in the storm. He could often be heard saying, "You don't need to worry about it." Doug didn't waste his time worrying, he spent his time building.

Doug's sanctuary was the open road. He loved getting out on his motorcycle to ride the country roads of Mississippi and throughout the Southeast. That same sense of freedom and joy defined his personal life. He was incredibly generous with his time and his resources, often in unique and touching ways-like his habit of buying dogs for friends who had recently lost a pet, ensuring that joy always found its way back into a home.

Above all, Doug was a family man. In July of 1980, he married Neta Joyce Renfroe, beginning a 45-year journey of deep devotion. To his children, he was a hero; to his grandchildren, he was simply "Pop." Doug never left his feelings unspoken. He frequently told his family that he "loved them with all of his heart," and he made it a point to ensure they always knew how deeply proud he was of them. He was their ultimate encourager-a man who lived to see his family thrive and provided a foundation of love that they will carry forever.

Doug is survived by his loving spouse, Neta Joyce Maselle, his daughter, Monique Maselle Kelly (Michael); his son, Clayton Kyle Walsh Maselle (Lacy); and his mother, Janice Lynnette Maselle. He was the proud "Pop" to four grandchildren: Ava Ray Walsh Maselle, Michael Townes Kelly, Ryan Elise Kelly, and Caroline Grace Kelly. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Binnie Jo Boggan (Bill), Lynnette Kaye Groff (Clarence), and Mona Ray McElroy and many nieces and nephews that love him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ray Maselle.
