David Bradley "Brad" Atkins age 47 of
Madison, MS passed away March 10, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS after a brave battle with cancer. He passed peacefully and was embraced by is loved ones.
Brad born April 7, 1978, in
Madison, MS. He is the son of Barbara Atkins and Robert "Bob" Atkins. Brad was the kind of man who always looked for the best in everything and everyone and he carried that optimism with him wherever he went. His warm spirit, positive outlook, and genuine kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Brad was a graduate of Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Mississippi State University. The friendships and experiences from those years remained meaningful to him throughout his life. Brad was deeply devoted to his family. His greatest joy was his family - his beloved wife, Summer, and their daughter, Lauren. He spoke of them often and proudly, always with a wide smile on his face. Being their husband and father was the role he cherished most. One of Brad's greatest passions was mountain and gravel bike riding. He loved the time spent on the trails and roads with his riding group and always looked forward to their rides together. Those friendships and miles shared meant a great deal to him. He also deeply enjoyed bow hunting, any type of fishing and working in his yard. The outdoors was always Brad's place of happiness. Brad was also deeply committed to his work and took pride in his career with Precision Delta Corporation, Ruleville, MS.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Atkins; his father, Bob Atkins and Dee Ann Atkins; his wife, Summer Atkins; and his daughter, Lauren Burgett. He is also survived by his sister, Lindsey Smith, and brother-in-law, Brant Smith, along with his nephew, Beckett Smith, and niece, Sawyer Smith. He is proceeded in death by his loving grandparents.
Those who knew Brad will remember his loving heart, his ability to find the good in people, and the quiet strength he carried through life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and the reminder to approach life with hope, gratitude, and compassion. Brad fought his battle with cancer with great strength and determination. His family and the nursing staff cared for him without cease following his cancer diagnosis in November 2025, surrounding him with compassion, dignity, and unwavering love throughout his journey. Brad will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved.
Visitation will be at Madison Methodist Church, Madison MS Monday March 16, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:30am with the service at 11:30am in the sanctuary. A graveside service will follow at Montgomery Cemetery.
