Robert Mack Obituary

ROBERT MACK

ELIDA —Robert "Bob" James Mack, 62, died unexpectedly at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 22, 1953, in Lima, to Joseph F. and Jean P. (Kenny) Mack who preceded him in death. On Jan. 3, 1976, he married Deborah A. Hullinger who survives.

Bob retired as a mechanical engineer from INEOS in 2009. He retired again from Potash Corp. in 2013, 2014 and again in 2015. He was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, a 1971 graduate of Lima Central Catholic and a 1975 graduate of the University of Dayton, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bob's many interests were very diverse. He enjoyed traveling especially in his RV, golf, bowling, working out at the gym, ballroom dancing and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was a pilot, a volunteer with the Equestrian Therapy Program and a gold medalist with the local Senior Olympics. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching U.D. basketball and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians. Bob had a mischievous sense of humor, but was always quick to help when something needed to be done or a problem needed to be solved. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors also include a son, Bryan (Anna) Mack of Lima; grandchildren, Alivia Mack, Blake Mack, Kayla Mack and one on the way; brothers, Thomas J. (Don Baney) Mack of Cygnet and Kenneth L. (Barbara A.) Mack of Laurinburg, NC; a sister-in-law, Lynda (James) Stewart, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Mack, and mother- and father-in-law, Eugene & Emilie Hullinger.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2015, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with Fr. Jim Szobonya officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Equestrian Therapy Program or the Senior Citizens Center.

04-15-16 -- me and another old friend of Bobs from Litwin in Houston were talking about Bob, wondering what became of him after he left Houston. I had talked to him a few times over the years but not in a long, long time. I searched Google and found this. Was very sad to hear this. My heart goes out to his family. Bob was a great guy and a good friend. Rest in peace Brother.

I worked out with Bob at Senior Citizens and was part of the Breakfast Club for 2 years prior to moving to S.C. in 2014. I marveled at Bob's workout regimen an his work ethic. He was a good person and I enjoyed his company. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My deepest sympathy to his entire family. Bill Lauber (Aiken, S.C.)

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing and wasn't able to make it to the viewing due to a family Christmas. Bob was such a smart, witty, respected and kind man. He always made me smile. After buying the house that you previously owned on Hollyhock, I also found many special touches he did to make life more enjoyable and organized. I recently learned of the connection to Anna Mack who I have known for years. Again, I am so sorry Debbie and family. My prayers are with you that God will give you strength during this time. He will be so missed.
