Dear Myrna and fam,
Barbara and I were deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was such a strong, dedicated leader in pharmacy, Sigma Pi fraternity, and at Ohio Northern University. Other than Bill Robinson, no one has been more loyal to ONU for a longer period of time as a student, faculty and alumnus than Bob. Although he was only 3 years older than I when we first met, he seemed so mature that I thought he was much older. We had some wonderful times together during our alumni visits and will miss him dearly. However, we know that he will live on in the memories of all of his friends.

When I began my teaching and coaching career at Ohio Northern, Bob was one of the first professors to greet me in the pharmacy school. I was honored to have had the opportunity to teach in the pharmacy school and Bob was a wonderful supporter of my teaching and coaching at ONU. I sincerely appreciated his unconditional love and support of the numerous volleyball players who were pharmacy majors during my tenure. My sincere sympathy to the entire McCurdy family. I loved Bob McCurdy.

Dr. McCurdy is an ONU legend!!! He is THE reason I was able to get into the pharmacy program. He worked closely with me to make sure I had everything I needed to be admitted and a success! My fondest memory is the time my friends and I bought dinner with him and Mrs. McCurdy and we went to this awesome little Thai place! He was and will always be held in the highest regard as an excellent pharmacist and educator! And fun fact, we bonded over my hometown being Youngstown, which is where he was VP of Phar-Mor! I hope his family understands what a true gem of a person he was

Dr McCurdy was the first person I met when I visited ONU and welcomed my family and I with nothing but open arms when considering pharmacy school - he even gave me my first mortal and pestle - he encouraged me as well that I could make softball work with pharmacy school (class of 2017) because I remember him telling me “you can give your brain a break every once in awhile and do something else you love” - I give him so much credit for giving me a career that I love - prayers for his family, I am so sorry to hear this, may he rest in paradise ❤

The song "You've Got a Friend in Me" could have been written about Bob. He always had a ready smile, a warm handshake, a kind word, and a encouraging wish for everyone he encountered. We live in a world that needs more people like Bob. Godspeed.

Condolences to the McCurdy family. Dr. McCurdy was a kind spirited man who was truly invested in the success of ONU. He was compassionate and committed to helping the students of ONU and especially in the pharmacy program. As the head coach of ONU Swimming & Diving for nearly 15 years, I was blessed with many student-athletes in the pharmacy program. I witnessed first hand how Dr. McCurdy fostered a wholistic approach to their studies and their lives. He will be greatly missed. His impact will live on through the many people he inspired.

Bob made me proud to be a Polar Bear and a pharmacist. When he learned of my interest in music and theater, he sponsored my involvement in the music and theater departments as a pharmacy student. He and Myrna attended all of my concerts and performances. When I came back to campus after graduation, I treasured the time I spent catching up with him. I will carry his leadership lessons with me throughout my career. He taught us to do the right thing, even when it is the hard choice or the unpopular choice. He taught us that character and kindness counts. His impact will be felt for generations to come. My heartfelt condolences to Myrna and his family. Sending prayers for peace and comfort.

Bob was such an icon for all of us at the ONU College of Pharmacy. I can remember being a student and Bob checking in on me and so many others. He was a relentless advocate for the College and the University, always having a fatherly approach to help nudge people forward while supporting them. I'm glad I was able to spend some time with him over the past year, but it was certainly not enough. He will certainly be missed.

I was sad to learn that our colleague and friend, Bob McCurdy, passed away this week. I met Bob through our involvement in student affairs and the National Entertainment Conference (NEC) that became the current National Association for Campus Activities (NACA). Bob was the College Union Director at Carnegie Mellon and served as Chair of the NEC Board of Directors in 1972. He was a beloved mentor to many of us young people in student affairs profession and paved the way for NEC to become a nationally recognized organization. Many of us kept in touch with Bob throughout his career and his move back to student affairs leadership at Northern Ohio University. Bob made a difference in the lives of students, professional colleagues, and friends. Our condolences to Myrna and the family as you celebrate his wonderful career and life.
