ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Robert L. "Bob" Taylor, 63, of Alexandria VA, passed away at 2:30am on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center.
He was born on November 17, 1961 in Lima, OH to Jackie L. Taylor and Lois J. (Wenhofer) Taylor, who both preceded him in death. On December 7, 1985, he married Susan A. Smucker.
Robert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1982-1985 and in the U.S. Army from 1985-2003. He served as a Senior Network Analyst for White House Communications Agency from 1991-2003 when he retired from the armed service. He continued his career with WHCA as a contractor from 2003-2024. Robert loved what he did and took great pride in his work. He always said "I don't have to go to work; I get to go to work". Robert had a love of music, listening to any genre. He was known to tell dad jokes or quote a line from a favorite movie with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years Susan; Brother John (Lori) Taylor of Las Vegas, NV; Sister-in-law Jude Sexson of Pensacola, FL; Brother-in-law Steve Pugsley (Anna); Brother-in-law Robert Smucker (Sherry) of Pensacola, FL; Nieces Cherie Godwin (Kevin, Kaitlyn) of Haymarket, VA; Kerry Opena (Orlando, Keiara (Alix, Tatum), David, & Antonio) of Pensacola FL; Katina Price (Dave, Olivia & Alice) of West Babylon NY and his nephew Ryan Smucker (Miranda, Audrey) of Pensacola FL.
Services will be held at 10:00 Friday, October 3 in Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA.
