ROGER SHAW
LIMA — Roger L. Shaw, 90, passed away at 11:58 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Wyngate Senior Living Community.
Roger was born on Monday, September 28, 1925, in Uniopolis, Ohio, to the late Jess and Opal (Scholfield) Shaw. On Wednesday, December 25, 1946, in Ohio, he married Dora Ellen Gross who passed away on September 22, 2008.
Roger served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII and was a member of Lima VFW Post #1275 and The Marine Corp League Detachment #1063. He worked at Meadow Gold Dairy and Bordens for more than 42 years. After retiring he drove shuttle for Allen Nott Honda. He was active making Long Banana Splits to raise money for different organizations and for cancer victim's families. He engineered a world record four mile long banana split held at Bowling Green in 1983. He was active with the Ohio Restaurant Association, the Michigan Dairy Queen and the Soft Serve Association of Ohio and Michigan. Roger was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church. He enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with his family.
Survivors include five children, Dennis Shaw of Lima, Jeff Shaw of Lima, Douglas (Jeanne) Shaw of Waynesfield, Barbara (Gary) Hickerson of Sidney and Jill Vetter (Shawn Hunter) of Cridersville; ten grandchildren, Keith (Angie) Shaw, Alaina, Lauryn, and Kamryn Shaw of Lima, Beth (Scott) Graham of Elida, Brian (Jennifer) Shaw of Cridersville, Ben (Tiffany) Hickerson of Bradford, Travis (Ivy Hughes) Hickerson of Maplewood, Jason (Jody) Wright of Lima and Nicole (Mike) Young of Elida; eleven great grandchildren, Brayden Lybarger, Colton Graham, Lacy Graham, Makenna Shaw, Brady Shaw, Parker Hickerson, Griffin Hickerson, Ryder Hickerson, Jaden Wright, Gage Young and Maddox Young; a brother Larry (Carol) Shaw of LaGrange; a sister Wanda L. (John) Harrod of Belle Center and two sister-in-laws, Sue Shaw and Ozelle Shaw.
He was preceded in death by: brothers, Gerald Lynn "Bud" Shaw and Kenneth V. (Dorcas) Shaw and sisters, Rita (Lyle) Gossard, LaDene (Charles) Hammer and Barbara (Paul) McCluer.
A funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rev. William Cronk and Chaplain Richard Coon will officiate. Interment will be in Auglaize Cemetery, Harrod Ohio with a Graveside, Military Service VFW # 1275.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Marine Corp. League or The Alzheimer's Association.

I worked with Roger for many years at Meadow Gold Dairy. He truly was a wonderful person to work with and was definitely devoted to his employer and to his customers. He was a leader and a true friend. He was very devoted to Dora and really enjoyed her company. He will truly be missed. Prayers to all..........
