LIMA — Ronald M. Bowen, age 70 Years, passed away February 21, 2018, at 9:52 pm, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center. Ron was born April 9, 1947 in Lima, OH, to Charles June and Marguerite "Peg" (Sheets) Bowen who preceded him in death. He married Lizzy Beth (Risner) Bowen who preceded him in death on June 27, 2003.
Ron was a 1965 graduate of Lima Senior High School. After high school he joined the Lima Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local # 776 where he was a member for 51 years. For the last 24 years of his employment he had served as the Business Manager for the local. He was also the former President of the Lima Building Trades Council. Ron loved to watch NASCAR and he had a lifelong passion for cars.
Ron is survived by his children: Lola Wischmeyer of Lima, OH, Renee Hartinger of Lima, OH, Elizabeth Sarver of FL, Scott (Lexie) Gross of Lima, OH, Karla (Bruce) Linnabary of Westerville, OH, Charles (Sommer) Bowen of Lima, OH and Laura (Ricky) Dotson of Lima, OH, 26 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, a brother, Charles "Butch" (Sandy) Bowen of Lima, OH and a sister, Robin Coffman of Lima, OH.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Valenti, a son in-law, Dan Wischmeyer, a grandson, James Holliday, a brother, Rodney Bowen and a close special friend, Theresa Shoemaker.
There will be a funeral service held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Terry Brock. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum following the service. Friends may call on Monday from 12-2 and 4-6 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nunez and the nurses on the 4th Floor ICU at St. Rita's Medical Center for the treatment, care and compassion extended to Ron and his family during this difficult time. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
