ELIDA -- Ronald "Ron" Craig Wita was born May 29th 1949, to Donald L. and Deloris I. Wita who preceded him in death. He left this world and came into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning January 13th, 2024 after a long fought battle with Parkinson's.
Ronald was a quick wit, had a twinkle in his eye, and always enjoyed a practical joke. His sisters might even say he was "ornery." He was a 1967 graduate of Lima Senior High and a graduate of Cedarville College, where he majored in business administration and psychology. He was so talented and gifted in many areas including woodcarving and music. He was an early member of the Lima Area Woodcarvers and was an accomplished violinist. He was an active member of Lima Baptist Temple for many years, playing his violin in their symphony. He loved to read, especially his Bible. He was able to retire after twenty five years from Valero Lima Refinery.
Most important to him, however, was his family and faith. He was a dedicated and faithful husband of fifty years to his beloved wife, Kayleen (Kay) S. Skelly-Wita. Loving and attentive father to his two children, Andy (Kayla) Wita of Elida, Ohio and Adrienne (Jake) Shumaker of Nashville, TN. Proud PoPo to six grandsons: Nick (Willow) Shumaker, Carson Shumaker, Gage Wita, Connor Wita, Lane Wita, and Gatlin Wita.
He leaves behind two sisters, Karen Maier of Lima, Ohio and Debbie (Steve) Churchill of Roseville, MI; A sister-in-law, Stacy (Dave) Skelly-Heeter of Florida, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald L. and Deloris I. Wita of Lima, Mother and Father-in-law, Neil R. and Shirley E. Skelly of Lima, brother-in-law Lane Skelly of MO, and brother-in-law Lynn Maier of Lima.
More than anything, he wanted others to know and experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ. His greatest hope was that others may come to know the Jesus who loves them, died for them, and wants to see them in heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:30am at a Baptist Temple, 982 Brower Road, Lima, OH 45801.
