Ruby Sandy Obituary
BLUFFTON -- Ruby A. Sandy, 94, passed away on August 27, 2024 at Bluffton Mennonite Home, Bluffton Ohio. She was born November 20, 1929 in Lima, Ohio to Roy VanDemark and Mary (Bogart) VanDemark who preceded her in death. On June 19, 1948 she married Kenneth R. Sandy who passed away on June 12, 2005.
Ruby was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and a longtime member of Lima Baptist Temple. She also volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital for 35 years.
Ruby is survived by 4 sons: Dr. J. Stephen (Christina) Sandy, Robert E. (Sonia) Sandy, James R. (Becky) Sandy and Dr. Thomas E. (Jodi) Sandy and 2 daughters: Cathy S. (Luis) Lugo and Diane M. (Bruce) Meffley. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby is preceded in death by 1 grandchild, 1 great-grandchild, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be on Tuesday September 3, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. There will be an additional visitation on Wednesday September 4 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 at Lima Baptist Temple, Lima, Ohio. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Lima Baptist Temple with Pastor Gary Hohman presiding. Burial will follow services at Altstaetter Cemetery, Cairo, Ohio.
Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

To Steve & Cathy...I offer my heartfelt condolences to you on the loss of your dear mother. I remember her well from my time at Lima Baptist Temple in 1965--1967. Your entire family was very special & I so much appreciated the friendship we had especially with Steve. I was sorry to hear about Ruby, she was such a sweet soul, enjoyed the time when my huxband Gene and her husband Kenny served on the bath board of education many years ago. my deepest sympathies to the Sandy family on their loss.
