LIMA -- Shirley E. Mulholland, age 88 of Lima, passed at 7:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born June 22, 1936, in Lima, Ohio to the late Harold Lee and Donna Grace Shade Shaw. On June 29, 1957, she married Dallas E. Mulholland, who passed away on June 21, 2005.
Shirley graduated from Shawnee High School and went on to earn her Registered Nurse (RN) certification from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Lima Memorial Hospital, where she was a surgical scrub nurse. Alongside her nursing career, she was also involved in farming, a passion she carried throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, cherishing her family above all else. She never missed a moment to support her loved ones, attending every sporting event, graduation, wedding, and family gatherings with pride and joy. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she had a natural talent for caring for others. Shirley enjoyed spending time in her garden and tending to her flowers. As a faithful member of Rousculp Church of Christ, she embraced the church's message and valued being part of its close-knit community.
Shirley was very committed to her community. She served as a Perry Blue Ribbon 4-H Club advisor for 30 years, guiding and mentoring young people. She was also an active member of several organizations, including the Allen County Farm Bureau, Lima Memorial Nurses Alumni, Perry Farmerettes 4-H Club, Perry Homemakers 4-H Club, Future Farmers of America, The Lima Allen County Cattlemen Association, The National Bantam Association, and the Ohio Poultry Association.
She is survived by 3 daughters – Cheryl L. Engle of Dublin; Janet L. (Dan) Lauf of Lima; and Cathleen L. (Bryan) Potter of Michigan; 5 grandsons – Tanner (Alecksa) Engle of Lima; Alex Lauf of Lima; Jason (Kelsey) Lauf of Richwood; Austin Lauf of Lima; Evan (Andria) Potter of Michigan; and a sister Sandra Klaus of Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by a brother – Raymond L. Shaw.

Sorry for your loss. Shirley went to school with my sister Lynne. Knew her from the Allen County Fair.

I have known Shirley all my life and Cheryl was in my class in school. And yes, she was very active in all her daughter's activities in school. Don't recall an event where she wasn't there supporting them. The Allen County Fair won't be the same without seeing her there. My condolences and prayers to Cheryl, Janet and Cathy and their families.
