FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- Shirley Anne (Rasor) Wingeart, 78, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025. She was a woman of deep faith and boundless love whose life touched countless others.
Born on October 21, 1946, in Cairo, OH, Shirley lived a life guided by her unwavering devotion to her faith and family. A dedicated member of the United Methodist Church, she sang joyfully in the choir and participated actively in faith groups, where she sewed and knitted clothes for the needy. She led children's youth groups and taught preschool for many years, nurturing young hearts with her kindness. She held a Master of Arts in Home Economics and dedicated many years to education, serving as a schoolteacher until her retirement in 2018 from Shakopee High School in Shakopee, MN. Her passion for helping others extended to her roles as Head Dietician at Goshen High School in Goshen, IN, and at Otterbein Retirement Community in Leipsic, OH, where she brought care and expertise to her work. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she practiced it with grace and commitment.
Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, finding great joy in her family. She was famous for baking "Grandma's Cookies," a cherished treat for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She poured her love into sewing and knitting clothes and stuffed animals for her great-granddaughter and great-nieces and nephews, each stitch a testament to her care. Her favorite pastime was cheering at her grandchildren's athletic events and extracurricular activities, where her proud smile and enthusiastic support were a constant presence.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karen Wingeart, her daughter, Heather (Wingeart) Aanes, her six grandchildren and one grandson-in-law, her beloved great-granddaughter, her two brothers, Bruce Rasor and David Rasor, and sister, Nancy (Rasor) Cain.
