DELPHOS — Sigmund L. "Sig" Ricker,77,of Delphos and formerly of Spencerville, passed away peacefully at 9:36 PM Thursday, August 30, 2018 in the Sara Jane Living Center in Delphos.
He was born December 7, 1940 in Fort Jennings, a son of the late Sigmund Charles and Clara Meiers Ricker, Sr. On June 24, 1961 he married Carol Ann Calvelage , who survives, along with four children; Sandy (Randy) Marshall of Harrod; Janis Cockerell and Deanna (Kevin Westerbeck) Talerico, both of Spencerville and Nicholas (Janice) Ricker of Kalida; eight grandchildren; Shaun (Rebekah) Ricker and Matt (Sara) Cockerell, both of Spencerville; Joe (Kim) Cockerell of Goldsboro, N.C.; Ashley (Nick) Arthur of Spencerville; Kenny (Amber) Greenwood of Kenton; Nathan Greenwood and Cami Teman, both of Spencerville and Tyler (Nicole) Karhoff of Kalida; ten great grandchild and four siblings; Richard "Dick" (Noreen) Ricker of Fort Jennings; Art (Diane) Ricker of Cloverdale; Arnold "Arnie" (Carolyn) Ricker of Continental and Mary Knueve of Kalida and two sisters-in-law; Dorothy Ricker of Spencerville and Geraldine Ricker of Elida.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law; Adam Cockerell, three siblings; Eugene Ricker, Charles Ricker and Betty (Urban) Schnipke and brother-in-law; Frank Knueve.
Sig was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and had attended the Fort Jennings High School and had worked as a truck driver for RW Service Systems of Taylor, MI. and later for Flex Foam Products of Spencerville.
He was a volunteer fireman with the Spencerville Invincible Fire Company from 1973 until 1989 and was a member of the Delphos Eagles Lodge, Aerie 471. He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating and the 4H activities earlier with his children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Tuesday in the St. John the Evangelist Church with Father Scott Perry officiating. Entombment will follow the services in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 6 PM Monday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, where the Spencerville Firemen will conduct memorial services at 6 PM Monday.
