BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Steven J. Harris, age 67, died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 3:08 PM at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.
He was born on June 16, 1951 in Lima to the late Ralph and D. Elaine (McGillvary) Harris.
Steve retired from Century Link after working for 45 years as a Communications Technician. He graduated from Ada High School in 1969. He was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran who served as an Infantryman from 1969 to 1975. He moved to Bonita Springs, FL 18 years ago. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football fan. He loved to fish, play cards, watch football, and spend time with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren.
Surviving are three children: Amy (Jermey) Gerber of Rockledge, FL, Tara (Rich) Hampton of Naples, FL, and Steve N. Harris of Naples, FL; four grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Elayna, Logan, and Kendall; three brothers: Daniel Harris of Bradenton, FL, Tim Harris of Ada, Randy (Vanessa) Harris of Crowley, LA; and one sister: Stacy (George) Wolber of Ada. He was married to Cathy (Brown) Harris for over 40 years.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating, military honors will be conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life gathering and burial will be planned in Bonita Springs, FL at a later date.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Condolences may be expressed at www.hansonneely.com

I worked with Steve in Lima,Ohio.He was mild mannered and we talked about the Cleveland Browns and O.S.U. all the time. No bigger fan than Steve! Very good man. Hope to see you in Heaven someday Steve.
