Livia Cabauatan Obituary
Dr. Livia N. Cabauatan, 89, of Logan, WV, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
She was born July 31, 1936, in Leyte, Phillipines, a daughter of the late Leon Nuevas and Felicima Conde Nuevas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conrado Cabauatan; one sister, Betsy Ewing; and one brother, Franco Nuevas.
Livia's passion for medicine was evident early on. After completing her medical training, she devoted her life to caring for others, working at Logan Regional Medical Center and several family healthcare practices in Man and Logan. Her expertise and empathy made her a beloved figure among patients and colleagues alike. Livia's dedication to public health extended beyond the clinic as she took on the role of director of the Logan County Health Department. Her leadership and vision were instrumental in improving the health services available to the community. She was currently practicing medicine for the Logan County Health Department and Rodighiero Health Clinic.
Livia was a strong woman of faith and a devout member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan, where she formed deep and lasting relationships with fellow parishioners. Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Livia was known for her outgoing personality. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as shopping for the perfect gift or the latest fashion, and her sense of style was admired by many. Livia's love for social gatherings was well-known, and she could often be found enjoying lunch with her friends and family. These moments were filled with lively conversations, shared stories, and an abundance of laughter.
Livia's journey through life was marked by her generosity, her laughter, and her unwavering kindness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the profound impact she had on her community and the countless hearts she touched. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her son, Andy Cabauatan; her granddaughter, Jocelyn Cabauatan; and her great-granddaughter, Violetta Carr-Munoz. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., where a funeral mass will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Biju Paul Parampil officiating.
To honor Livia's wishes, she will be cremated following the visitation and services, and a memorial mass and dinner will be held at a later date at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan, WV.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
