FT. JENNINGS -- Thomas Miehls, 83, of Ft. Jennings, passed away at 3:56 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born May 27, 1941, in Ft. Jennings to the late Hubert and Johanna (Potts) Miehls. On November 16, 1963, he married Evelyn Calvelage. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1966. On April 8, 1967, he married Janice Hansel. She survives in Ft. Jennings.
He is also survived by four children: Jodi (Jerry) Schroeder of Kalida, Jeannie (Chris) Kimmet of Parkland, FL, Jesse (Jackie) Clay and Jeff (Beth) Clay, both of Ft. Jennings; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Jim Miehls, Kenny (Doris) Miehls and Mike (Dianne) Miehls, all of Ft. Jennings; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Miehls; and two sisters-in-law: Judy Miehls and Joyce Miehls.
Thomas retired from Ford, Lima after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings, and past member of Ft. Jennings Fire Department and Ft. Jennings Park Board. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and was an avid fisherman. All his life, Thomas loved spending time with his brothers, especially farming together with them.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com.
