CONTINENTAL - Virgil Bibler, 90, of Continental, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 after a battle with cancer. His journey of life began on January 20, 1931 when he was born to the late Correl and Garnet (Wells) Bibler in Putnam County, Perry Township. On September 20, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Miriam Taylor and they had four children.
Survivors include three children: John (Sherry) Bibler of Continental, Jim Bibler of Ottawa and Joyce (Rowdy) Howell of Continental; a daughter-in-law, Marcy Bibler of Findlay; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Bibler; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Frame Bibler; a sister, Helen (Chuck) Sidener; a brother, Ronald Bibler; and in-laws: Vernellus (Naomi) Taylor; and sister-in-law, Margaret Ray.
Virgil graduated from Continental High School in 1949 and retired from Verhoff Machinery and Welding as an office manager. He was a member of the Dupont Church of the Brethren where he was a lifelong deacon had served on many boards.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at Dupont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 9 - 10 a.m. Monday at the church. The family requests that masks be worn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.
