I was shocked to read of Daves passing in todays pantagraph. I became a friend of Daves in the early 90's when he was a supervisor on my best roofing crew. He had his cool yellow Dodge truck which he was so proud of at that time. I was not suprised when Dave became the suceess he was in Illinois.
You will be in our prayers here in Normal Il. Alan McLaughlin.

Today your Heart is breaking and it is hard to carry on…Many tears you have cried, trying to be strong. There is so much pain and heartache tearing at your heart. There are questions still unanswered that are ripping you apart. I want so much to help you, Tell me what to do? If God would let me, I would take this pain away for you. It is hard to see people suffer and to hear them cry. There is always emptiness when a love one dies. Please know many are praying for you. If you need us we will be there. Remember GOD loves you…Give him your pain to bear. Wishing you all Peace in this time. So so very sorry for your loss.

Melanie, Ron,Terri,Carrie and family. I was thinking the other day about the time David went to Kentucky with us for Kids Crusade. We raced frogs in the parking lot, laughted and made memories. It is now that the memory we made means more than ever. There are not adequate words to tell you how sorry we are for your loss. There are no words that I could say that will "fix" things. What I can do is pray for you and your family and ask God to give you strength and peace which I know He will. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love you all.

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Uncle David had a life cut way to short. But one thing I will have to give him is he made the best of it and always had a blast. He did what he wad capable of doing for other people, he was considerate. I dont look up to many people, but I always have and always will look up to him. He's been there in my good times and bad times no matter what. I've learned from this. Not to take anyone for granted and always appreciate them being in my life. My deepest sympathy goes to my aunt Mel and the girls. I can't imagine how you feel)): uncle David was my second dad and I know it will just get even harder not having him around. Especially when things go wrong and he is needed to talk to. Uhgg. Life isn't fair. At all. You shouldn't have been the one to go... I love you with all my heart. Please look down on all of us. We're trying our best to keep eachother strong..<3

I saw this poem today and it made me think of David.....
Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.
I hope this gives some comfort..xo

Melanie and Family ~ May the love of all your friends and family help to carry you through this difficult time. Take comfort in knowing that you have a special guardian angel watching over all of you. May this poem help give you some peace. ~ Michelle
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
