James Graham Obituary

James Edward Graham, Sr. passed away peacefully, on September 17, 2024 in Cincinnati Ohio; Three days prior to his ninety-eighth birthday. James relocated from Corinth Mississippi in 1951 to Hamilton, Ohio where he met, fell in love and married the beautiful Marietta Green on June 28th 1953. James was employed for numerous years at Champion Papers in Hamilton Ohio before moving his wife and 4 children to Glendale, Ohio. He joined Avon Products in 1969 as a processor and retired June 1st, 1990, after 22 years of service to become an avid traveler and leisure expert. James and Marietta's travels took them to many international destinations and his favorite mode of transportation was by way of a cruise ship. No less than 14 days and as long as 30 days was always his goal when traveling. He enjoyed life immensely! James was generous with his time and volunteered with Soul Ministries, Feed The People, Freestore Foodbank, and singularly delivered supplies to families in the south affected by weather emergencies. For his continued community services, James received proclamations from both the City of Springdale, Ohio and City of Cincinnati. James had a very strong Christian faith and was selected and served as deacon for many years for Zion Baptist Church in Avondale Ohio. In addition to serving others, his favorite pastime was tinkering in his garage and tending to and making sure his house and lawn were in immaculate condition. Above all, he enjoyed nurturing his growing family, while instilling a legacy of godly love, hard work, service, and wisdom. James was always quick to serve and give to others. His final act of service was bequeathing his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marietta (Green) Graham and loving son James E. Graham Jr. He will be dearly missed by his son Brian R. Graham, daughters Gayle Graham, and Dana Braxton; Grandchildren Dion Graham Sr., Darron Graham Sr., Evander Graham, Anthony Braxton, Alyse Braxton, god-grandson, Don Wagoner. Great-grandchildren Natalye, Darron Jr., Dion Jr., Daniel, Trenton, Veronica,Tyson, Donovan, and Hayden Graham. Great-great- grandchildren Aubrielle and Nevaeh Graham.Special friend, Etta Hampton, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Soul Winning Church of God, 425 West Kemper Road, Cincinnati (45246). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
