James Hedrick Obituary

James "Jim" Elbert Hedrick, 88, of Cold Spring, Kentucky passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, December 3, surrounded by his family. Jim was born on November 1, 1936 in London, KY to Vincent and Susanna Hedrick. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the Airborne Division. He married his devoted wife, Mildred Creech, in 1959 and they cherished one another for the last 65 years. Jim, lovingly known as Papaw, loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, camping and fishing. He was a member of the Goldenrod Bassmasters and enjoyed anything outdoors. Jim was also an honorary Kentucky Colonel. Jim is preceded in death by his son, James Timothy "Tim" Hedrick and his sister, Betty Lou Parsley. Jim leaves behind his loving family; wife, Mildred C. Hedrick, sister Evelyn Hodges and brother, Charles Hedrick (Thelma), daughter Sherrie Foppe (John) and grandchildren Stefanie Foppe, John Michael Foppe, Amy Schutzman (Kenneth), Rob Hedrick (Nikki), Ryan Hedrick (Lindsey), great grandchildren Layla, Madison, Heidi, Judah and Nicolai James and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Special Olympics of Northern Kentucky or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
