Miles Rucker Obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Miles Adeyemi Rucker, who departed this life on February 28, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. Born on December 1, 2002, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Miles was the beloved son of Fanon Rucker and Chanell Fleming and the treasured younger brother of Jade (Rucker) Eckstein. As the second-born and only son, he was a bright light in his family, bringing boundless energy, kindness, and laughter to all who knew him. Miles was a 2021 graduate of Clark Montessori High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. Incredibly focused and hardworking, Miles' first job was sweeping floors at Dickie's Barborshop when he was only 13. Miles was a dedicated employee at every job worked before graduating high school. After spending nearly two years at the University of Cincinnati, Miles discovered his passion for electrical work and began his journey as a commercial electrician, working as an Electrician Apprentice while studying for his certification. Always hardworking and eager to learn, he also enjoyed working security and bar-backing at Igby's in downtown Cincinnati, where he formed many friendships. Miles is deeply loved and survived by his parents, Fanon Rucker and Chanell Fleming; sister, Jade (Rucker) Eckstein, and brother-in-law, Kameron Eckstein; niece, Camia Eckstein, and nephew, Micah Eckstein; maternal grandparents, Vernon Fleming (Ann) and Vanessa Fleming Loyd (Sanford); paternal grandparents, Robert Rucker (Denise) and Jacquie (Pace) Rucker; maternal great-grandmother, Beulah Morris; as well as a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Miles earned the name "Money Miles" at age 8 because of his ability to hit baskets from almost anywhere on the backyard basketball court. A naturally balanced athlete, Miles was a sprinter and a long-distance runner for the Bond Hill Flyers and ran 5k races with his dad and the Team when he was in elementary school. He was a fierce soccer player and, beginning in 7th grade, began running both cross-country and track, where he forged lifelong friendships, including with his best friend, Jacob Crawford. Miles was also a proud member and captain of his high school bowling team during his senior year. Beyond sports, his passions were as diverse as they were deep-dancing, playing video games, creating and listening to music, and fishing with his dad. But more than anything, Miles cherished spending time with family and friends, always bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Miles adored the beach, especially family trips to Hilton Head and Destin with his grand-mommy and poppy, alongside his sister Jade and cousin Kylan. Staying at the Ritz-Carlton made the trips even sweeter, especially for the food. A self-proclaimed foodie, he had an undeniable love for a good cheeseburger and burrito, evident by his seemingly endless stash of Chipotle napkins-a true testament to his loyalty to his favorite meals. Beyond his humor and adventurous spirit, Miles had a heart for others. He was passionate about humanitarian causes, including human trafficking awareness, homelessness, ocean conservation, global warming, and social justice. His selflessness knew no bounds-whether it was giving his last $20 to someone in need or simply grabbing the rice cooker from the top shelf for his "vertically challenged" mother, Miles was always there to help. No matter the task, if you asked, he would be there to help, with a smile and not a single complaint. Miles' love, laughter, and generosity will never be forgotten. His spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love that surrounds him. While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that he now rests in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. Rest well, Miles. You were loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond words. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:30 am, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Allen Temple AME Church, 7080 Reading Road, Cincinnati (45237).
