Nancy Hicks Obituary

Nancy Ann Hicks (nee Schroth), 71, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. Nancy graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1971, and worked as a bookkeeper at a family business for 28 years before she retired. She leaves behind a legacy as an amazing mom, mother-in-law, and Maw Maw; a loving wife, sister, and friend; and a true example of strength, resilience, and determination. Her relationship with the Lord and her family were the most important things to Nancy. From "Maw Hicks Fridays" to making homemade cookies with her grandchildren, making her kids' favorite dinners and desserts for birthday celebrations, hosting holiday parties, cheering from the sidelines at her kids' and grandkids' activities, and getting together with her "Club" and other friends, she made sure everyone knew how much she loved and supported them. She was never one to know a stranger and often ran into people she knew no matter where she went, so her family teasingly called her the "Mayor of Florence". No matter her title, Nancy remained steadfast in her faith, despite the immeasurable loss and health challenges that she faced over the years. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Nancy is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Hicks; daughter, Maria Halenkamp; son, Nathan Halenkamp (Laura); daughter-in-law, Erin Halenkamp; stepchildren Chris Hicks, Johnny Hicks (Jenelle), and Angie Herolaga (Wayne); grandchildren Mark Sipple, Summer Schwab, Meadow Schwab, Andrew Sipple, Zander Schwab, Willow Schwab, Emery Halenkamp, Elliott Halenkamp, Addison Halenkamp, Andre Reehill, Everett Halenkamp, Lynnie Halenkamp, Nick Brumback, Bryson Hicks, Maddie Hicks, Averi Hicks, Emma Hicks, Landen Herolaga, and Vivian Herolaga; sisters Connie Drews (Gary), Karen Washburn, Peggy Graue (Rick), Theresa Cason (Don), Mary Jo Duffy (Tim); brother Michael Schroth (Sue); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Schroth; her daughter, Andrea Sipple; her son, Michael Halenkamp; her grandson, Nolan Halenkamp; her son-in-law, Scott Sipple; and her sister, Susan Jacobs. Visitation to be held on Wednesday Evening, August 6, 2025, beginning at 5 pm and ending at 8 pm at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger (30 Commonwealth Ave Erlanger, KY 41018) Mass to be held on Thursday Morning, August 7, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Florence (7301 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY 41042) Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's honor to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University or St. Elizabeth Hospice.
