Travis Ransom Obituary

Our beloved hero, Travis Lee Ransom, 49, won his two-year battle with cancer and was called to his heavenly home early Friday morning while in the hospital on June 21, 2024. Travis ("the kid") was born in Conneautville, PA on December 26, 1974, to parents Linda and Ernest. He grew up in Conneautville and from an early age, spent most of his time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a love for all sports, but had a true passion for football. He played in high school, and loved the level of dedication, commitment, teamwork, and camaraderie that football provided and demanded. He graduated from Conneaut Valley High School in 1993. Travis enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1994 and became a firefighter. Travis was honorably discharged in 1997 to take a firefighting position at The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). Travis excelled at CVG and quickly moved through the ranks. He obtained his Paramedic Certification and degree in Fire Science while employed at the airport. He retired in 2017 with 20 years of service at CVG as a Battalion Chief. After retirement, Travis worked part time at Union Fire Protection District and went full time with the department in February 2019. Travis had a passion for firefighting and mentoring young firefighters. He loved his profession, his community, and his country. He was truly an American hero. Travis met the love of his life, Lisa, while both were working at CVG in 1999. They got married on October 14, 2000. They welcomed twins, Hunter & Hannah (20) in 2003 and Kayleigh (17) in 2006. Travis was a loyal and devoted husband and the most proud and dedicated father. Travis was an outdoorsman and it is there where he found peace and comfort, whether it was hunting, fishing, or riding the trails. Travis prided himself on staying healthy and worked out daily, even pushed himself to stay active these last two years. Those who know Travis well know his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Travis fought his battle with cancer courageously until the bitter end. He never gave up. He will be sorely missed but not forgotten and we know he is now our angel in heaven watching and protecting us. Travis is preceded in death by his mother, Linda and father, Ernest. He is survived by his wife Lisa, three children – Hunter, Hannah, and Kayleigh, brother Doug, sister Heather, father and mother in law, Paul and Edie Binder, sister and brother in law, Patrice and Hubert Ligon, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his furry companion, Finley Martin Ransom. As most people go through life they just do ordinary things and go about their business. Travis his ordinary was the rest of the world's extraordinary. Really did live to make a difference and he made the world a better place just by being himself and helping others. Didn't matter who it was, you always knew you could count on him. Lucky to have called him my cousin and to have experienced that extraordinary impact that he could have on my life. Forever will be missed.

Travis was a person that everyone loved at Conneaut Valley High School. He would was on the homecoming court, etc. Played football for Valley. His children and wife would love his friendships of Shawn Smith and others at Valley peers.
Dear Travis,
Your wife/ daughters are beautiful and your son is handsome. I would have not expected anything less from you. All of the achievements in your life outweigh so many others. Thank you for your service in the military and as a dedicated fireman. Your legacy will be honor and remember forever.
Valley graduate of 1994,
