Joseph Shultz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pearson Funeral Home on Mar. 26, 2026.
Joseph G. Shultz was born on February 28, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to A. Glenn Shultz and Marjory (Spaulding) Shultz.

Sterling Joe. Joe Cool. Big Joe. Veteran. GE Joe. Freemason. Shriner.

"You can call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner."

He carried many titles, and plenty of one-liners to go with them, but our favorites were Husband, Dad, and Papaw.

Loving husband of 53 years to Patricia Ann, though he always just called her Pat.

Devoted father to Joseph W. (Vanessa) and Maegan (Erik).

Proudest Papaw to Maverick, Hudson, Lily, and Jett.

A graduate of Butler Traditional High School, though he liked to say he "quit school because he didn't like playing games."

A U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.

A GE retiree, always known for his hard work and grit.

A proud member of Fern Creek Masonic Lodge #955 for over 26 years, where he served in many roles, including Master in 2000.

Joe loved being outside in the sun, whether it was on his lawn mower or on the beach at his new favorite place, Longboat Key, Florida.

Our memories are filled with trips to Kings Island during GE weekends and beach vacations, full of airboat rides, walks in the sand, and fresh seafood.

Like any good country song (his favorite kind of music), he was rarely without a good dog, a truck, or a beer (blue can).

In retirement, he could often be found "resting his eyes" or watching a Western, especially Bonanza or The High Chaparral. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports while his son coached. And with Lily and Jett, he expanded his knowledge of Blue Heelers through watching Bluey and eating plenty of popsicles.

In true Joe, one-of-a-kind fashion, he faced a rare blood disorder with incredible strength and courage. Our time with him would never have been enough, but we will cherish our memories and the love we share.

"If I tell you a mosquito can pull a plow… hook 'em up." We will, Dad. Love you more.

Donations in Joseph's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Visitation is Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Pearson Funeral Home at 159 Breckenridge Lane. Masonic service will begin at 7:00 pm.
