DAN MARTIN Obituary
DAN MARTIN
04/04/1966 - 09/08/2025
Dan Gail Martin, 59, of Brookfield, Mo., passed away on September 8, 2025, in his home with his daughter Elyssa Swanson and son Joshua Martin by his side.
He was born on April 4, 1966, in Independence, Mo., to Price Jay Martin Sr. and Dorothy Leona Martin.
Dan is survived by his seven children: Nathan Martin, Danielle Scrivener, Jonathan Martin, Lacey Burnett, Elyssa Swanson, Joshua Martin, and Daniel Martin; as well as the mother of his children, Carla Martin. He also leaves behind close to 20 grandchildren and quite a few "grand-dogs."
Dan came from a large family. He is preceded in death by brothers Tom Martin, Price Jay Martin Jr., and Kenneth Hodge, and sisters Brenda Hodge and Sharon Burks. He is survived by his brother James Martin and sisters Cindy Cervantez and Sheila Harrington.
Dan spent most of his childhood in Moberly, Mo., before moving to Texas in his teenage years where he met the love of his life and began raising his family. One of the defining parts of Dan's story is that he left school after the 8th grade to work alongside his dad and brothers. From there, he began a lifelong career in commercial and residential construction, specializing in drywall.
Drywall was not just work to Dan - it was his art. He traveled across the country perfecting his craft, supporting countless people in the trade, and teaching many along the way. His passion for building has lived on through his children, who now carry forward his legacy in construction.
Those who knew Dan will remember the Martin family home as a gathering place - always full of friends, family, and great memories. He enjoyed music and sports, but in his later years, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards and board games, and sitting in his rocking chair on the porch with his dogs, soaking in the quiet of the day.
Dan will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his devotion to family, his generosity, and the lasting mark he left on all who knew him. His children are planning a celebration of life on what would have been his 60th birthday in the Great Smoky Mountains to honor his memory and the beautiful life he lived.
