Larry K. Ervie

1941 - 2021

Larry K. Ervie, age 79 of Marceline, died Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his home. Larry was born in New Cambria, Missouri on November 18, 1941 to Damon and Wanda (York) Ervie. He married Sharon Knight on November 26, 1960 and she survives him.

Larry worked as a carpenter and was a Marceline Fire Department member for 32 years and a longtime Fire Chief. He loved setting up for the Marceline 4th of July celebration and hamburger stand and barbequed thousands of Daddy burgers. He built award winning homecoming floats, was a member of The Rowdy section, was a Scout Master for many years, loved spending time at the farm and was a conservationist and a member of the Marceline First Baptist Church.

Larry is survived by his wife Sharon of the home in Marceline, sons Stewart Ervie and Debbie of Kansas City, MO; Brett Ervie and Erika of Marceline, son-in-law Joe Bailey of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Ervie, Dawson Ervie, Lucy Bailey, Brody Ervie and Maggie Ervie, brother Jerry Ervie of Marceline, sister Carolyn Hawkins and Harley "Mick" of Marceline, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Michelle, brother Robert and nephews Grant Ervie and Brandon Niemeier.

Private family services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. An open visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, January13 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Marceline First Responders for equipment and sent to 1720 N.
