Christopher Morley Obituary

Falls Village, CT - Christopher R. Morley, 57, of Undermountain Road, died Friday April 8, 2011 after being stricken at his home. He was the husband of Leone T. Young (New York City/Falls Village). Christopher was born September 4, 1953 in Seattle, WA, son of Elsa (Colby) Morley and the late Ralph Morley.
In addition to his wife, Christopher is survived by his son Christopher Morley, Jr., New Haven, CT; mother Elsa (Los Angeles), and brother Ralph (Los Angeles). He became a member of Leone's extended family, who he cherished and who greatly miss him as well.
Christopher had been employed in the area of fixed income as a trader or salesperson by several Wall Street firms from 1984-2002. He retired in 2002 to pursue real estate and investment interests. During the past 9 years he also became a self-taught architect, horticulturalist, artist, dog trainer, and wine connoisseur, among other hobbies.
Christopher touched the lives of many through his community service and philanthropy. His work with the Falls Village Children's Theatre, animal rescue, and D. M. Hunt Library were especially important to him.
For the many friends and family members who were blessed to have had Christopher as a part of their lives he will be remembered as an inspirational role model, avid conversationalist, and tireless communicator. (Just do not play poker with him!) His sense of humor, keen intellect, and kindness will be dearly missed. Above all else Christopher will be remembered for taking the time to use his many talents to help others.
A Celebration of Christopher's life will be held in Falls Village at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be sent to the Falls Village Children's Theater (25 Deer Rd, Falls Village, CT 06031) or the Little Guild of St. Francis Animal Shelter (285 Sharon Goshen Tnpk, Cornwall, CT 06796). Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home, 118 Main St., North Canaan, CT 06018.

Christopher will be missed and has now joined his costar Marilyn Monroe in Heaven.

I met Chris Morley sometime in the mid-1960s when his mother Elsa was visiting our next door neighbor. This was in Montecito, CA (a town near Santa Barbara). Chris was immediately welcomed into our family. We all loved him like a brother (age wise he was right in the middle between my older bothers and myself). He lived in the LA area, but his mom would often come to visit her friend, and Chris was always a welcomed guest at our home.
I remember when my mom told us that Chris had actually made a movie with Marilyn Monroe -- We could hardly believe it. But it was indeed true. Chris was reasonably modest about that part of his life. He had also appeared in the TV show Farmer's Daughter. And I believe his "girlfriend" at that time was the daughter of Edward Pratt of Get Smart fame ("Chief"). I remember those summer days spent hanging with Chris by our pool. Just a real regular guy. Fond memories indeed! Bye, Chris.

We were so sorry to read of Christopher's untimely passing. We met him and his Leone on the Trade Secrets Garden Tour last year and were bowled over by his infectious joi de vie for all things. As we only get to Falls Village twice a year, this was to be the spring we really would get to know each other, now sadly not to be. His life brimmed-over, touching and enriching those who knew the pleasure of his company. Our deepest sympathy to the family (including Max)

Chris lived life to it's fullest. He was a great guy to be around as he had the energy of a neon billboard. I am sorry to see him go, but the memories still shine bright.

I'm grateful for the chance I had to get to know Chris. Sadly, it was all too brief. He was a wonderful example of personal success and generosity to others. He instinctively knew that with success comes the call to give back, which he did with kindness and gentle pride. He will be missed by many. Blessings to Chris and his family.
