So sorry to hear so very late. I have the utmost respect for Tony. I was at Orchard Lake from '64-'67. He was my Professor and friend. A very fine human being. Wonderful teacher. Very kind. I will miss him. He is in a better place he deserves. Tom Cyma

We each met that one person who makes a mark in the lives of so many. Tony Kosnik is that person for so many. A kind, compassionate man who challenged people to think before judging others. A man who touched do many who were interested in being leaders in the church community. Hopefully, his thinking will be the greatest asset these people use to help others. Wieczny odpoczynek . . .

When I think of Tony, I think of what a warm, gentle and strong man and friend he was.
He was a great servant of God and a sterling example of a caring servant of the Church.
We have lost a living friend but his legacy will
live on forever. Happy Heaven, Tony...and thanks
for all you have done for the church of Detroit.

When I think of Tony the first thing I think of is his smile, what a kind, wonderful man he was. Peggy, you and the whole Stack family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Tony showed the way in so many respects. Not everyone can say they know the priest who presided at the marriage of their daughter AND their mother/mother-in-law but those are among the gifts Tony bestowed on Carol and me. As others have noted eloquently in these tributes, Tony provided all of us with an amazing combination of kindness, generosity, brilliance and courage. Dzikuj. You live on, Tony. Peggy and Clayton and family, we offer our deep condolences.

My family used to visit with Father Tony as I was growing up. He and Peggy were at my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and he officiated their vow renewal. He leaves a generous legacy and will be missed. Peggy, I am sorry for your loss.

Tony was woven into the fabric of our family for four decades, beginning when he became Marygrove's college chaplain, and close confidante and friend to my father, Jack Shay. He married my husband and me, and my two brothers and their wives. He baptized our children. He delivered the eulogy at my father's funeral. Our lives were each made richer and deeper and more thoughtful because of Tony. In the inevitable hard times of marriage, my husband will remind me of what Tony said at our wedding -- that it's not about the individuals in the marriage but the marriage itself. Tony quietly guided each member of my family, and I know he did so many others. I am so sorry, Peggy, for your loss. I will say that thinking of Tony and my dad together once again now brings a smile as well as some tears. Godspeed, Tony.

Tony was a wonderful man, an exemplary Catholic priest, an original scholar and superb theologian, a notable activist for the common good, a devoted husband, a teacher, one admired and loved by all, but best of all he was my warm and life-long friend. A man of clear principle and boundless generosity, his life was gift to all who knew and loved him. Would that the church he served, and its ministers, follow his example to bring about the presence of God among us.
