Michael J. Sissem

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands - Michael J. Sissem, formerly of Brighton, passed away July 28, 2018 at his home on the island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Michael was born July 6, 1948 to the late Mary Lou Sissem and the late Jim Sissem. He grew up in Northville, MI with brothers Tom and Patrick and graduated from Northville High School in 1967. Michael served in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War before becoming a union plumber in Detroit. In 1989 he pursued his dream of self employment and moved to St. Croix and started his business as a plumbing and piping entrepreneur. Michael is survived by son, James Sissem and grandchildren, Tyler, Meah, and Kyle Sissem, all of Milford; and special friends, Ron Jones, Elaine McLean, and Linda French. Per his long time wishes, Michael will be buried at sea in the Caribbean with a private ceremony attended by his immediate family and local friends.
